Margot Molyneux

Weird hot and cold weather. Check. Watery red eyes. Check. Constant runny nose. Check. Random sneezing attacks at inopportune moments (like on De Waal Drive). Check. People, I am pleased to announce my allergy radar is spot on. It would seem summer is coming. Thank goodness!

Well the stars were aligned because this week the South African fashion label Margot Molyneux launched their SS17 collection entitled Noa. How wonderful that it coincided with payday! The collection is everything I love about the brand and summer fashion.

Spanish Animation in the Short Film ‘Alma’

If I say ‘animation’ what do you think of? I’m going to guess you’re not thinking of Spanish animation. Or creepy Spanish animation at that. I found a creepy short animation film by Rodrigo Blaas. Blaas is a Spanish animator who used to work for Pixar. He is known for his work on Wall-E, Finding Nemo and Up. But not many know him for his short films and personal projects.

In 2009 he created a short film called Alma. Blaas created it independently and released it to the world on Vimeo. He had no idea it would go viral and win awards all over the world. It’s a dark, quirky nightmarish short film that will want to make you get rid of any dolls and stuffed toys you may still treasure. It’s also… brilliant.

Shared Working Spaces

I’ve been thinking a lot about communities and shared working spaces lately. I recently started a new job. One which I still can’t believe I have. One thing I’ve realised is how great it is to be apart of something good. There are people doing amazing things in Cape Town and South Africa. And I get to be involved in some of these things.

Some of the people we work with have started shared working spaces in the city. These are places where, if you don’t have an office, you can go and work. They have wifi access, conference rooms and smaller meeting rooms at your disposal. If you are running your own business, it’s a great way to work in an office environment and connect with others. Because working alone sucks big time! So here are Cape Town’s shared working spaces for you to check out.
